Description
At least two domains of education have driven the development of STEM lexicon in ASL. In classroom instruction, educators work to deepen the conceptual knowledge of students. In assessment, including ongoing formative and standardized statewide tests, student learning and mastery of STEM content are evaluated. In this session, we will demonstrate examples of translated assessment items to discuss and analyze in order to further expand our perspectives on practices and principles for developing STEM test items in ASL that are accurate, comprehensible, grammatical, and aligned with instructional practices.
