Comments
The press conference from previous videos continues. Dr. Zinser says the university will help to teach her about deaf culture. She agrees that there should be more deaf members on the Board of Trustees. Dr. I. King Jordan is asked if he will tell the students and faculty to stop protesting. Jordan says he has been put into a difficult position. He is trying to create more dialogues between protesters and the Board. Someone asks Spilman about the selection process. Video cuts to Jerry Covell and Tim Rarus providing clarification after the press conference. They said Dr. Zinser claimed the students were open to negotiation. Covell and Rarus clarified that they met with Dr. Jordan and Dr. Zinser to tell them the four demands and to ask that they start a dialogue. Dr. Zinser immediately refused the deaf president demand and removing Spilman from the Board demand. She was willing to negotiate the 51% Board of Trustees demand and noted she wouldn't pursue any consequences of protesting as long as no laws were broken.
