Description

CAPS’s Joshua Miller presents an interactive workshop designed to help Gallaudet staff consider how their focus and physical well-being are influenced by screens and technology, and vice versa. We will go through data/statistics regarding screen dependence and the chair-bound “health crisis.”

Through crowd polling/interaction, we will identify common, and often unconscious, tech habits - the “notification reflex,” “overuse,” etc - that drain our mental energy. We will explore potential interventions to achieve mindful (healthy) use of technology - digital/real-life boundaries, mico-breaks/self-care, perspective shifting/re-framing/reminders of “urgent or not,” etc.

The presentation/workshop concludes with an open discussion to share experiences, challenges, and solutions for a healthier and more intentional//mindful workday.
