Carol Padden explains the DPN experience from her perspective as someone who was not on campus during the protest. This interview took place about five years after DPN. She lives in California, but her parents were in Washington at the time of the protests. She thinks the results of DPN include a change in the balance of power and access across the nation. She discusses the power of the students during DPN. She credits her position on the Board of Trustees to DPN and the demands they made. She mentions her role models include many women whose management style she likes and she learns from her peers. She does think that the power shift reverberations from DPN will continue to occur. She hopes within the next five years the focus of the deaf community shifts to deaf children and language access.
