In 2022, the Archives and the Schuchman Deaf Documentary Center partnered on a first-of-its-kind project to collect oral histories of alumni celebrating their 50th anniversary reunion.

The first class to be collected in this way was the class of 1972; the project was successful enough that it was repeated with the class of 1973, and will be again for 1974--and possibly beyond that as well.

The videos below are made available publicly for the benefit of alumni, friends, family, students, and historians interested in the evolution of student life at Gallaudet University starting in a period of increasing enrollment and the opening of several dorm buildings, which permanently changed the student experience.

Warning: The videos in this collection may contain content offensive to some viewers, including topics such as: drug use, sexual activity, hazing, and other similar topics. Viewer discretion is advised, and videos will be removed only in extreme circumstances. It is also important to note that the opinions expressed here belong solely to those expressing them, and are not reflective of the values of the University as a whole.
