Description

Statistics: It has been called "the grammar of Science" because it is the formal structure that we use to convey nuanced information about real-world observations. One such type of information is how strongly the data support a given scientific hypothesis, belief, or action. But what do traditional statistical measures for strength of evidence really tell us? And how do they line up with our individual human gut intuition? We will explore these questions in this interactive talk, which is accessible to anyone interested in science, even without a statistics background.
